The space
Welcome to Maugersbury Manor—an elegant and storied Grade II listed manor house set in the rolling hills of the Cotswolds. Steeped in over 600 years of history, this home has been carefully restored to offer both timeless character and modern comfort. With six bedrooms, five reception rooms, and expansive gardens, it’s the perfect place to reconnect, relax, and breathe in the beauty of the English countryside
Maugersbury Manor is tucked away in the peaceful rural village of Maugersbury, an idyllic hamlet located almost 200ft above the valley bottom below, offering glorious country views and scenic walks on its doorstep. Just half a mile from Maugersbury is the popular market town of Stow-on-the-Wold, home to a number of independent shops, tearooms, pubs and restaurants.
The Manor has been furnished to a superior standard throughout and offers a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the house and the surrounding countryside. The manor is therefore intentionally not cluttered with gizmos or gadgets.
When arriving at the Manor, guests enter through the high stone walled exterior, giving a wonderful first impression of the front of the Manor.
Upon entering the Manor, head from the main reception area to the delightful garden room, with large solid oak table providing a perfect spot to entertain any group in any season. The garden room offers great views across the large landscaped garden (approx 1 acre), professionally maintained all year round and balances a lovely array of flowers with plenty of lawn for family fun.
Adjacent to the garden room is the large kitchen, where you will find a delicious hamper on arrival. The kitchen has everything you need for your stay and includes a large breakfast bar for more informal dining.
As guests head further through the ground floor, you will enter the first of the family living rooms, with plush seating and wood burner for those cozy evenings. Continue through and you will arrive in the second family living room, complete with comfy sofas, a large Smart TV (the only one in the house), as well as a good selection of family board games.
When wandering through you will encounter snugs and side passages dating back to when the Manor was originally built, offering perfect spots to escape with a book or quiet beverage!
We regard the 1st floor as the family floor, which is where we stay when at home. Heading up the left hand side staircase, you will find the master bedroom, with king sized bed. The bedroom has wonderful views of both the garden and across the valley; providing a perfect way to wake up! Off the bedroom, you will find a large copper bath, perfect for an indulgent long soak with no excuse required!
Heading across the hall, is the 2nd bedroom with a double sized bed, and also the spacious family bathroom, which has a large freestanding bath, separate shower area and WC. The bathroom has doors either side, with the far side leading to the pristine dressing room, with views over the garden, and onwards through to the 3rd bedroom, complete with superking sized bed and ensuite. You will also find on the 1st floor an office with desk, working printer, woodburner and separate sofa.
There are full top to bottom staircases on either side of the house however if you head up the staircase beyond the 3rd bedroom it takes you to a spacious, yet atmospheric, reception room; deliberately finished with a minimalist look and tasteful artwork.
There are three further bedrooms, two with superking beds and one emperor sized bed, for those that really want to stretch out! There is one en-suite and a further family bathroom. All bedrooms come with hotel quality crisp cotton sheets, fluffy towels for each guest and complementary toiletries.
Back down on the ground floor, you will find the cloakroom, WC and a well-equipped utility room, with an additional fridge / freezer, washing machine and separate tumble dryer.
Please remember that the house is very old and the wonky staircases and crooked door frames are part of her character. There are also some low beams on the 2nd floor for guests to be careful of.
There is plenty of parking in the driveway at the front of the property. To the rear of the Manor access to the garden and outside seating are through the garden room.
We have installed a bespoke Wifi system, providing coverage throughout the house, however speeds can vary as a result of the rural location.
Unfortunately no pets are allowed.
Please no smoking or vaping is permitted throughout the property.
